My art is where the cynical, the hopeful and the fine art figure come together. My sculpture is beautiful curves and lines, it has at least one and sometimes multiple points of view. My art is not just a pretty decoration, but tries to make you think... or just react. Observers will take away different impressions of my art. Some will find the light hearted feelings in my work, some find the dark.
I am an American figurative sculptor residing and working in the Pacific Northwest. As the only child of an engineer and an artist, I spent the first portion of my life working as an engineer and I am dedicating the next portion of my life working as an artist. Since my mother is a talented oil painter, art has always been a part of my life and art a driving force behind my successful engineering career.
In the 1990’s I merged my interests as I became a Computer Graphic (CG) artist adept in the use of 2D/3D modeling tools and 3D computer generated animation. In this capacity I worked on short animated films and animated corporate logo design. For a time I also owned and operated a company which created fine art cross-stitch designs for the arts and crafts community and I sold my art nationally in this fashion.
In 2002, I decided to continue the direction of my professional life from sculpting in the virtual computer world to sculpting in the actual world. I have taken courses from a variety of sources, primarily the Gage Academy of Art. As an emerging sculptor my next task is to go about the business of art and actually sell my work and not just give or trade it away as I have done in the past.
I have included links to my bronze and clay portfolios as well as some collages that I have recently made. If you have questions, comments or inquires about pricing please contact me at cjpeltz@gmail.com.
